The children who attend Pompositticut are from a diverse
background of family life, customs, and ethnicity. Servicing
children from a wide range of cities & towns in Massachu-
setts, Pompositticut also has attracted campers from out
of state (Maryland, Iowa, Utah and even Puerto Rico)
often while visiting grandparents and friends in the
surrounding towns. Campers have also had the
opportunity to share experiences with staff who have
specifically traveled from Ireland, Australia, Hungary,
Sweden, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Kenya to
work here. This is a unique chance for children to meet
new friends from other parts of the world. Parents may
enroll a child for 2, 4, 6 or 8 week sessions where
campers participate in 8 scheduled activities. Each
child is then assigned to a color group for the entire
session which consists of a small unit of children
chosen according to age and swimming ability. Still
the emphasis is to continue with the utmost in-
dividual attention and needs of our campers.
Because of the intimate size of our program we
cannot guarantee all grouping requests. However
fostering children's relationships is important and
signing up early is the only assurance for these
requests. All groups are assigned a Jr. Leader for
additional assistance during the session. Color
groups of older children enjoy increased indepen-
dence and challenges in respective activities lead-
ing to advanced skill development and maintaining
interest levels.
