In 1965 Roger K. Kane Sr. purchased the 60 acre
property to raise his family of 6 children on a farm
setting. Upon introducing the family to farm life, Shirley Kane
researched the historical farms listings where she discovered
the property's Native American association. Once hunted and
harvested by the Nipmuc tribe, Shirley and Roger chose
"Pompositticut Farm" as its official name, deriving the title for the terrain once called
the "badlands". The Kane family has been active members in the Mass. Farm Bureau
and lifelong supporters of 4H and farm life, having raised polled Hereford cattle,
Suffolk sheep, chickens and horses throughout the years. The farm has also been
acknowledged as a Massachusetts Horse Farm of Distinction, hosting 36 camp owned
horses. PFDC, Inc. is owned and directed by the youngest daughter, Jackie who began
the camp while attending Concord Academy. Having celebrated its 25th anniversary,
PFDC, Inc. is Hudson's only ACA accredited camp and has been recognized nationally
for the past 5 consecutive years for its child safety policies.

Jacqueline Kane remains the director of PFDC
since the camp's inception in 1980. A brother,
two sisters and Jackie completed the full 13
years of 4H programs. All participated on a
national level with Jackie becoming the first 4H
ambassador in the local program. Her personal
interests and participation in equine pursuits
throughout the years have attributed to the
camp's programming today.  Offering daily riding lessons on the
camp's grounds to each child, along with the recent addition of the innovative Heels Down
equestrian program, has attributed to the camps' notoriety. Also, as one of the first local
camps to offer a ropes challenge course, and the later addition of the Theater, Dance and
Music activity, PFDC remains a word of mouth selection prized by local area parents. Jackie
proudly oversees the more traditional activities of swimming, outdoor sports, creative arts,
nature and archery that round out the camp's specialized programming.
