Pompositticut Farm Day Camp is proud to sponsor another
mentoring program for co-ed teens ages 13-17, aptly named Jr.
Wranglers. This program is recommended for teens who are looking to expand their proficiency
with horses, though no prior experience is necessary. With hands-on training, each participant
will be taught the basic, yet vital information involved in caring for and perhaps one day
owning a horse. The knowledge gained from this experience will allow the participant to become qualified to continue with
interests or lessons at any area barn or equestrian center. Included in this tutelage the following will be emphasized:

- Safety of participants as well as horses
- Types of feed, grain, hay
- Stall maintenance
- Daily barn maintenance
- Description and use of tack
- Brushing
- Saddling up and untacking
- General first aid for horses
|
- Schedule of feeding and watering
- Leading in and out of stalls
- Pasture Maintenance
- Maintenance of tack
- Hoof maintenance
- Daily routines of horses and how they behave
- Daily observation of instructors teaching campers under saddle during day camp lessons.
- Interaction with professionals visiting Pompositticut. Our farrier, veterinarians, chiropractor, masseuse, and nutritionist.

Season Highlights: 2 Weekly Rides **
- Week 1: A one hour group riding lesson under saddle
- Week 2: A guided trail ride under saddle
- All Jr. Wrangler enrollees may participate in PFDC's afternoon Fun Club from 3:15pm - 5:15pm
(Note; Fun Club is not available on the final Friday of each session. Jr. Wranglers will be
involved in our end of session ceremonies)
** Jr. Wrangler hours are 8:15am - 3:15pm daily with the exception of the 2 weekly
rides, when extended Wrangler hours are until 5:00pm, with prompt pick-up at 5:15pm. Due to the small enrollment,
the management has always rescheduled the riding portion of this program if and when the weather has interfered. You will be assured a maximum
experience as the management and staff, cater to the participants in the Wrangler program.
Jr. Wranglers must sign up for a full 2 week session which coincides with the day camps session dates:

| |
Session 1: June 25 - July 6 |
|
Session 3: July 23 - August 3 |
|
| |
Session 2: July 9 - July 20 |

The enrollment is limited to only 6 Jr. Wranglers per session and participants will be accepted on
a first-come, first-serve basis.
The total tuition cost is $400** for one, 2 week session, per participant and is non-refundable and non-transferable
once the Jr. Wrangler registration has been confirmed. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due along with the completed
